Well, she never was the best
At following the trends.

Thalia scoffed at the few people standing by the edge of the forest, telling ghost stories with fearful looks on their faces. Haunted? Pah. They were just chickens, afraid to get into the darkness on their own. It was fun to fuel the fires about the place; if nothing else, it kept it relatively vacant. There were always those people who were of the same frame of mind as she, but they were few and far between. Too many horror stories about the things in the dark scared the students of Powers Academy.
She walked up to a group of kids, mostly freshmen with a few sophomores, who were cowering just at the edge of the forest. They thought they were brave. Thalia smiled to herself and listened to what they were gossiping about.
"I heard a boy got lost in the woods one night, and when they found him the next morning, his throat was sliced from ear to ear and he was hanging upside down from a tree. And then, when they took him to the morgue, his body just crumbled into ashes, right there on the table." said a girl with black hair, wiping her sweaty hands on the purple skirt she wore. She pretended she was just smoothing her clothing and wiping off some dust, but it was obvious by the look in her eyes that she was terrified to be so close.
"Pfft, that's not true." Thalia said, walking up to the group and fighting off a smile. "No, in my freshmen year, one of my best friends went into the forest. I told her she shouldn't, but she didn't listen to me. Then, in the dead of night, I heard a scream from my dorm room. I hurried out into the night in my pajamas, tracking her with my telepathy, but it was too late; a beast was tearing into her throat, sucking at the blood. She gurgled a scream with her last breath before the beast tore off her head and threw it at me. It followed me all the way up to the dorms and scratched up the door before it went away. Now, every night, my friend will come to those who have gotten too close to the woods and drag them in, to meet the same end that she did." Of course, none of this was true, but she could tell that she'd told her story well by the fearful looks the underclassmen were giving her. She couldn't track people with her telepathy, she'd never known anyone who'd died, and the dorm door obviously wasn't scratched to pieces. Still, it was fun when the group slowly backed away from the trees and went to hang out somewhere else.
Thalia laughed to herself quietly before slipping between the trees. There was nothing so like the coolness under the trees, the shadows that shifted as a slight breeze flowed through the leaves. This had to be a favorite place... of course, she had a lot of different favorite places, so really she couldn't be sure.
She passed a guy and a girl making out behind a tree. They were so wrapped up in each other that they didn't even notice she'd passed, which was alright with her; She didn't want people asking into her business. She wasn't doing anything wrong, per say, she just... didn't like to be interrogated. She liked to do what she wanted, when she wanted. People stopping her annoyed her.
She found a tree she'd carved with her initials and a heart; her favorite place in the trees. She settled into a crevice made by the roots and pulled out her journal and a pen. This was a great place to write her songs; surrounded by nature, alone, with no one to bother her. Of course, all her friends would know immediately where she'd gone with her journal and her favorite pen, but that couldn't be helped. Besides, she'd love to hang out, if someone came along.
She hummed to herself as she began writing lyrics, sounding out the tune and the syllables.

She'll never let it go, oh no...
