Natalie does not usually use her power because it is often painful and mind altering to experience the emotions of another person so poignantly. Nat often has a severe headache after navigating through someone's mind because of how mentally taxing it is.

( H A I R ) Out of all of her features Natalie's hair is definitely her least favorite. It is very thin and tends to tangle easily. She has locks of light blonde hair that is generally well kept and well groomed. Nat's hair is above the shoulders in the summer and in the winter she allows it to grow below the shoulder.
( E Y E CO L O R ) Nat's eyes are a startling shade of pure blue. Her eyes aren't dull or gray, but a startlingly pure blue pigment. They are obviously her best feature and naturally the first thing one tends to notice when they look at her. Her eyes hold a lot of emotion and can never conceal what she is feeling. Often they have a sad feel to them giving her an unusual appeal.
( H E I G H T ) Very tall, 5'11." Natalie's height is somewhat unusual for a woman.
( W E I G H T ) Natalie is extremely fit from her years of dance and cross country. She has physical strength that can be somewhat surprising. She weighs approximately one hundred twenty five pounds.
( T A T T O O S ) She would never in her life get a tattoo.

In school she is very classy, pencil skirts, sweaters, trouser pants, dresses, etc. Outside of school she is casual to an extent. Generally her out of school wear consists of jeans and a sweater or a blouse.

singing: Being the teacher of vocal music Natalie obviously has a lovely voice. From a young age she was always considered a star. She had a large range and was always one step ahead of any other aspiring singers. She attended Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Ohio and received her degree in Musical Theatre. Her love of singing is slightly overpowering. At times she can be quite harsh on her students especially if they seek a potential career as a musician. Her range is massive, but she is classified as a Mezzo Soprano.
cultured: Her mother and father tried their hardest to get her to see the world for what it was. They took her on trips to different countries on vacations, and showed her movies that were incredibly rich in history. Her father was a world history teacher therefore he expected his daughter to be equally as cultured as he was. Along with seeing the world Natalie also attended plays of all kinds (especially musicals), symphonies, and operas.
intelligent: She learned quickly in school. Her ambition and determination to be at the top pushed her to strive for the best no matter what the circumstance was. Natalie has the ability to analyze a situation and logically figure out the events that will unfold even without using her talent or power. Her brain is like a sponge, it takes in information and stores it, never forgetting it. She knows a bunch of useless information as well as the helpful and intellectual things.
piano: The first instrument she ever learned, before her voice, was the piano. Her mother and father decided that having her take piano lessons at a young age would allow her to learn discipline. Natalie is a master pianist and has played pieces by Chopin and even Rachmaninoff. The piano often calms her down or helps her let go of any sort of anger she has inside of her. Although she has a strong love for the piano, if she had to choose between her voice and her ability to play she'd choose her voice.
running: To keep in shape in high school Natalie joined the cross country team in the fall and the softball team in the spring. Out of the two sports cross country was hands down her best. She has a very high stamina and has attempted to run in various marathons and triathlons. When she was a senior she came very close to breaking a record, but was off by merely a second or two.
( W E A K N E S S E S )
brutally honest: No matter how much she might like you, or how talented you might think you are Natalie is a harsh judge. She does not hold back if she believes a performance is not up to at least what she would expect. She does not believe that there is a perfect performance, and will find something to improve upon even if it is stupendous. Aside from singing she is also brutally honest in relationships.
feeble in health: Her immune system was never good, not even when she was a little girl. She tends to get sick a lot especially after using her ability. Her headaches often leave her in a bad mood. She is so conscientious with her health that at times she comes off as being quite the hypochondriac. Her inability to fight disease off easily has left her slightly mysophobic throughout the years as well.
opinionated: If she has something to say she will say it loud and proud. She does not easily change her opinions. This is a good thing but primarily it is a bad trait. She is very used to being right in a situation that once she is wrong she has trouble backing down and will put up a fight. Her opinions are very sacred to her, so openly attacking them will offend her greatly.
emotional: Most performers are quite emotional and Natalie is not an exception to the stereotype. She can get hurt easily especially when it comes to a romantic relationship. She is very inexperienced with love, and does not take well to break ups. When she is upset she also gets rather emotional. There are many topics that cause her to get teary. One of them is talk of women who are pregnant due to the fact she can't have children of her own.
broadway: It is not a flaw in her personality. When she hears a showtune she will sing along. If someone has an interest in theatre most likely she will get into an hour long conversation about her favorite shows. Broadway is her absolute favorite topic and on Tony Awards night she is attached to the television, normally no place to be found. Her of theatre is slightly insane.

*Her mother committed suicide after losing the ability to dance when Natalie was eight.
*Singing is her only true escape, and the only time she really feels peaceful and at ease.
( O V E R A L L )
At first glance one might think that Natalie is easy to read, that she is an open book. This generalization is highly untrue. Her personality is very mixed and at times can be confusing. Many assume she is a very optimistic and happy person. Deep down inside she has the same amount of hurt as the next person. Her optimism is her false escape into a reality that she never lived. After her mother's accident and then suicide life at home was not nearly as joyful as it was when her mother was around. Sometimes she tries to forget about the past and move on, but the only problem is she can't completely. The only time she truly feels as if she can forget all her broken dreams and life altering events is through song. Many do not know of the fatal accident that changed her, and if they do know of it they probably don't know how it changed her.
Aside from that, she is a kind hearted person who tries her hardest to do what is best for her students and the people around her. She is by no means selfish and would never think of herself before anyone else. This can be a fatal flaw especially when evaluating her own life. Her students, especially those who she teaches intensively, consider her to be extremely harsh. In all honesty she is not, she is simply realistic. She isn't a dream killer, but she tries hard to train her students properly. She expects nothing short of excellence.
She is generally an outgoing person, but she does enjoy being alone on occasion. She does not have a lot of good friends but those she has she's insanely loyal to. If she was to break the trust of a friend she would be a very large hypocrite, and she does not appreciate hypocrites. Natalie does not like crowds and detests having to chaperon school events because of this. When she does opt to spend time alone she generally spends it reading, singing, playing the piano, or listening to music. Music is her life. Without it she wouldn't know what she would do. If one was to take away her voice she'd be completely devastated.

The light of her parents' world and the beautiful daughter of famous dancer Julia Armstrong was born on December the thirteenth. Natalie was a gift to Jeff and Julia Armstrong. The couple had wanted a little girl for the longest of time, and the day Julia conceived little Natalie was the happiest day of the dancer's life. Natalie was a spoiled child, she attended fancy parties at a young age, went to plays, and symphonies. Her parents were insanely proud of whatever their little girl did. Being an only child she received her parents' full attention. Surprisingly they did not try to hide her away from life instead they exposed her at a very young age. Her parents were firm believers in freedom and choice, but morality as well. Natalie was always given the freedom to make her own choices, but if she made a faulty one she had to face the consequences and learn from her mistakes.
At the age of six she showed signs of being able to read minds. She knew when her mother was upset or when her father was happy, she also experienced grave headaches when she could feel the emotions of others. She didn't like it and often woke up in the middle of the night telling her father to make the voices go away. Eventually it was established that she possessed telepathic ability. Her mother and father did not judge their daughter, but were in a way proud of her. The same year she started showing signs her parents had her start taking piano lessons to teach her discipline. Natalie caught on extremely fast and showed aptitude for music.
When she reached the age of ten her mother got into a tragic accident. Natalie had been in the car when it happened, but luckily she was safely strapped in the back seat. Her mother lost the use of her legs and could no longer dance. This drove Julia into deep depression, changing the mood in the Armstrong household. The night after Natalie's first piano recital Julia committed suicide. After Nat had gotten home from the recital her mother had given her a hug and a kiss telling her how proud she was of everything she did. Natalie could sense that something was gravely wrong with her mother, but she couldn't put her finger on it. The next morning the ambulance was at the house and had declared Julia dead from drug overdose.
The mood changed even more. Natalie's father did the best he could. For a large portion of her life Natalie had to learn to take care of herself. The enthusiasm of her father had dropped massively. This caused Natalie to push herself even harder, she wanted very desperately to make her father smile. In middle school she got the top grades in her class and went on to do extraordinary things with music. Consecutively she got the lead in all the musicals. In high school she maintained her high grade point average and continued getting leads. She joined the cross country team and nearly broke a record, and joined the softball team. Nothing made her father smile, and this upset Natalie gravely. Eventually she pushed herself for herself instead of for her father.
After high school she got scholarships to many different schools, but settled on the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Ohio. She majored in Musical Theatre and eventually went on to get her education degree. She worked in a few odds and ends jobs, especially waitressing, but eventually decided to apply to Power's High School as the vocal music teacher. It took her a while to adjust back to the style of living, but she grew to love it again. She is passionate about her work and would never have the desire to live her life differently.
( S A M P L E P O S T ) Natalie sighed heavily. It was late afternoon, the nastiest time of day. She would be lying if she said she was a night owl. Many a times she woke up at five thirty to get ready for the day. The Gryffindor girls who slept around her hated when she would do this because they would have to hear her rustle around. Then of course she showered in the morning and her singing woke up just about everybody in the castle. This to her was actually a very good thing. Early mornings were good for people, waking up at the crack of dawn caused the body to function. By the time classes started Natalie was wide awake and ready to go. Early mornings were the primary cause for her energy and enthusiasm throughout the day. If she woke up even an hour later her schedule would be messed up and that was a disaster waiting to happen. So many were surprised when they found out she was mentally diagnosed with minor obsessive compulsive disorder. It wasn't anything severe, she wouldn't have to be put away for it (which was an excellent thing). Natalie simply couldn't stand things being out of place. Muggles called her massively anal.
Throughout her childhood she learned to control her urges with music. Music was her escape and would continue to be her escape. Many of her friends at Hogwarts didn't understand her love for music. They found it slightly redundant especially the purebloods. Natalie had a firm opinion on the wizarding world, she felt bad for the purebloods. Many muggle borns would give to be a pureblood, but Natale was very happy just being herself. Being a muggle born was not bad actually she thought it was much better. She was able to have an open minded view of the world around her. She also had music. Without music she wouldn't be herself, Natalie functioned because she had music. Music was her friend and would continue to be her friend throughout the rest of her life. Music to Natalie was like a dog to a little child. A companion, a protector, and a best friend.
The boredom of the day and the love of music is what caused her to explore the castle. She new where she was going but she was going to take her sweet time. She had her sheet music in hand (primarily showtunes). She had a special bag for her many pieces of music her array included songs like: What I Did For Love, Maybe This Time, Don't Rain on My Parade, My Man, and many other pieces. She slowly made her way around the castle. She had a place she wanted to go to in mind she just wanted go the longest route possible to take up as much time as she could. Natalie was in a rather lazy mood today and even though music made her happy it also tired her out as well. She was a performer as well as a singer, she was usually exhausted after singing. Natalie threw her heart and soul into her performances like her life depended on it.
She finally found the place she had in mind. She usually came to this particular Tower when she was bored and lonely. Many didn't know where it was so she could be alone and be able to sing without being bothered. She slowly inched towards the door and pushed open the door even slower. She stepped in, oblivious to the other person in the room, and shut the door behind her. She slowly turned around and jumped at the sight of Frank. "Holy mother you scared me!" She said aghast. After her minor heart attack she laughed and took a seat by Frank. He was a good friend who shared her love of music. The only friend who shared her love of music. It was something special they shared.
