( P O W E R ) Ilina has the ability to control contamination. Or, at least, that's the way she thinks of it because that's what it is to her. In reality, she has control over contamination AND dust, it’s actually a “very small particles” thing (microkinesis?). Astonishing difference, truly.
But now we get to the interesting part. How in the world contamination is controlled. It's difficult to explain, so I'll use some examples. If water or soil is polluted in any way, she simply concentrates on it and comes in direct contact with the water or soil and the pollutants, be them particles, parasites or other things, simply lift up with her finger. This may sound like dirty business, but from there she can simply cause those tiny little things to levitate and float away, leaving her hands perfectly clean. She can later use the pollutant to throw at someone if need be. The last part, the part about throwing it at someone, is always a part of her power. If the body of water or area of polluted soil is too great for her to simply put her hand down, leave it there for a bit and then life it up and voila it's all there, then it will simply take more concentration and a bit more time. The pollutants will, literally, rise up and form into a ball. Keep in mind this ball can be as dense or as loose as Illi wants to make it. Limits on this are not a mental or physical thing on her end, but more of a size thing on the thing she’s trying to lift. Small, microscopic bits of whatever? Sure, fine, she could life those in her sleep. But things like ticks, things people can see very clearly with the naked eye are impossible for Illi to lift at this point. It’s very difficult to identify a single lead particle in water. It’s much easier to spot a tick swimming around. Or drowning. Whatever.
In the case of a human becoming sick due to a virus or a bacteria or something, she can use her power to extract the cause through the sufferer's skin. In a way, she heals people. But she can't close wounds, only make them completely clean. Again, like the way she lifts contaminants from small bodies of water and small patches of soil, the viruses and bacteria and all that harmful stuff sticks to her fingers. But it dies shortly after coming in contact with her skin. She's completely immune to sickness in this way, so faking sick to get out of a school day is kind of out of the picture for her. And anyone else. Sorry!
The part of her power that she likes the most is the power to manipulate dust. Like all of the other things, she can simply life her arms a bit and all of the dust in a given area will raise and condense into a ball, ready to be hurled at someone annoying. Or just thrown away. The interesting part is, if you have a big large mchuge dust ball in the corner or something, she can life the entire thing as easily as she can lift a single dust particle.
And lastly, she can do the same with pollutants in the air. This is obviously one of the hugest parts of her powers, as there are a ton of pollutants in the air. She can remove them completely and condense them until they’re in the size of about a marble and then she can simply throw it away or at someone. Smoke? No big deal. But radiation? Yeah, she can remove some of it, but it’s generally not a good idea and she’ll probably end up dying anyway.
So, yes, her powers are really weird. In a nutshell, she can't get sick in any way whatsoever, she can remove sickness from living beings, she can purify the air, the ground, the water, and anything else you can think of, and she can take all of those pollutants and hurl them around like it's no big deal. But what are her weaknesses? Well, to start off, this is in no way an offensive power. Sure, she can throw dust in someone's eyes, but that's the entire extent that her power goes offensively unless she gets really, really creative. Second, it's just dust or other tiny little particles. It's not some highly corrosive acid that burns through skin, it's dust, that you can wipe away in a second or so and be on your merry little way. With bacteria and such you might want to be a bit more careful because you could very well get sick, but that comes with time. In direct confrontations, Illi loses. Plain and simple. She's no threat. And, on top of that, she can't close wounds, as I've stated before. She can clear them of any sort of disease, but after that it's up to time to do its work.

( L I K E S ) HORROR MOVIES - Ilina loves horror movies more than any other type of movie. Even the awful horror movies.
MUSIC - Ilina has a wide range of musical tastes and would listen to just about anything.
READING - Ilina loves reading, just not necessarily books all the time. She reads on her laptop quite often.
CHINESE FOOD - Enough said.
ACTING - Everything about it, even memorizing lines and those awkward moments when you're changing into costume in the middle of a room. Well maybe not so much those.
CHOCOLATE - Ilina generally passes on desserts, but when they include chocolate she has to think long and hard, and usually ends up taking some.
STRAWBERRIES - The best snack in the entire universe according to Illi, hands down.
VIDEO GAMES - More specifically any game that would scare the living daylights out of her. Or anything with zombies. Most people are surprised that this is one of her likes, but she’s always surprised at their surprise.
STARGAZING - It's just something that makes her heart flutter and tie her stomach in a knot. In a good way.
HER BROTHER - The only reason she’s here and away from her family. Ilina adores her brother more than anything else in the world, even walking home to a plate of Chinese food, strawberries and chocolates in front of a TV playing horror movies.
( D I S L I K E S ) HER FAMILY - Awful people, really.
HER POWERS - Why can't they be more useful?
RUSHING - It goes against everything she stands for.
TALKING ABOUT PEOPLE - Illi always feels terrible afterwards, no matter in which way she's talking about someone. She just tries to stay away from it.
BEING PRESSURED - It will never, ever work and she will likely just dislike the person trying to pressure her.
LOUD PEOPLE - Why can't they ever be quiet? It's obnoxious.
SOUR THINGS - Gross. No thanks.
CREEPY LITTLE DOLLS - In movies, they’re great. In games, they’re wonderful. In real life, kill them with fire.
VIOLENCE - Unnecessary.
TALKING ABOUT HER DISLIKES - Because, seriously, it's a downer.
( S T R E N G T H S ) NICE - Illi is just a nice and caring person in general, always willing to help a friend and make new ones. She just likes people and it shows.
SENSE OF HUMOR - Illi has a good sense of humor and laughs at any joke as long as it's funny. Even if it's an offensive joke. She thinks those are just as funny. She won't make an offensive joke herself, though, that's just awkward.
ACTRESS - She’s a good actress, and this translates into lots of things in the real world. Especially lying. But she doesn’t like to lie.
CONTROL - She has very good control over herself. She has vowed to never drink or do drugs, and will not. Ever. She’s a virgin and intends to stay so for a while. She can say no to anything she doesn’t want and not feel bad about it. She might say “Sorry, no” if it’s an innocent little thing like a piece of cake that she doesn’t want or something, she’s not a jerk about it.
OPEN MINDED - She’s into a lot of things. If it sounds cool, she’ll do it and go along with it. Skydiving? Sure, why not.
( W E A K N E S S E S ) FREQUENTLY DEPRESSED - Especially bad because of her ability to act, nobody will ever know that she feels this way unless they can coax it out of her. And usually that requires some previous knowledge, and if nobody has any...
PARANOID - Not tin foil hat level paranoid, but enough to question her own friends on occasion. Not to their faces, no, but she thinks sometimes whether or not people are actually her friends. Afterwards she feels awful for thinking this because of course they are.
SOMEWHAT UNATHLETIC - She's a good runner. That's about it. Everything else, athletics wise, is a big no to her. Really, all she can do is run.
HAS A PROBLEM WITH INITIATING CONVERSATION - She just can't seem to start conversations. It always ends up really weird unless there's something she really wants to talk about.
NIGHTMARES - She's plagued by them, and often doesn't get much sleep at all. Coffee fixes that right up, even though she doesn't really like the taste.
( H O B B I E S / H A B I T S ) HORROR MOVIE JUNKIE - It's become a hobby for her. If a horror movie is coming out, she needs to see it. She loves them.
VIDEO GAMES - Yep, it's one of her hobbies, too. She has a soft spot for them.
ACTING - She loves acting, that's it.
( F E A R S ) HER PARENTS - They never really understood the whole concept of these powers and were afraid of it. They think she's a freak, and she's scared that they might come back and do awful, drastic things.
HER BROTHER'S WELLBEING - She's really scared for her brother, he still lives with their parents. And her brother is on Illi's side.
( S E C R E T S ) NEVER KISSED SOMEONE - She has never kissed anybody in her life.
THE BIG ONE - If she could, and if she had the opportunity, and if she wouldn’t be caught, she would kill her parents. Just like that. She hates them, they've ruined her since the day she got her powers, and she feels as if they have disowned her. She's scared that they might kill her. The worst part is, her fears aren't irrational at all.
( O V E R A L L ) Illi is nice. Very, very nice, and to everyone. That's the first thing people notice in her. She has a very sunny demeanor and always seems to be happy and enjoying everything. That's because, well, she is. She loves many things, even things people may not notice. She loves giving people hugs and meeting everybody she can. She's a little bit hyperactive and has a good sense of humor, even though some of her jokes are odd at times. But it's that oddball, chipper personality that seems to draw people to her. It's not creepy at all, it's just... Happy. Really happy. She loves trying new things and thinks that's one of the best parts of life. If she ever had the opportunity to travel, she would in a heartbeat. She loves helping people because of the feeling it gives her, and the fact that the person she helped won't have to do as much! It works out for everyone. She’s a smart person, but generally only applies herself to subjects she is interested in. Still, that’s every subject except math, and she still ends up doing pretty well in math. She also loves acting on stage. Illi frequently feels as if there aren’t enough hours in a day because there’s always so much she wants to do. But, eventually, she has to lay down and get some rest. It usually doesn’t come easy, but she does get some rest.
She has her negative side, though, and that generally revolves around her parents. Since her powers made themselves known, her parents have begun to drink and do just about every drug imaginable. Her brother is two years older than her and is moving out soon, thank all that is good and holy, but she's still scared about him until then. They are both alcoholics and addicted to many drugs, and are both unabashedly awful to Illi. She takes this in a very negative way, and hates them for everything they've done. She dislikes her parents with a fervent passion. She is away from them now, so she doesn't really have to be so hateful all the time, and she's glad for that.
She generally has very few wants. Maybe some hot chocolate now and again, but nothing huge, except love. She is a romantic and just wants someone like that in her life. But not just anybody. She wants the perfect guy. She doesn't go on and on about it, though, so few people know she wants love so much. Wherever she goes, she generally has a good amount of friends, but she has never had a boyfriend in her life.

( O V E R A L L ) Ilina was born to Pavel and Branimira Arnaut in late afternoon on a warm, breezy May day. Her brother was only two at the time, but they would grow up together and they would be the best of friends for as long as they could talk. Her parents were Bulgarian immigrants, so both of them learned to speak both Bulgarian and English. The kids don't have accents, sorry to say, but the parents do. At this time, during her early, powerless childhood, her parents were the best parents a kid could ask for. Under their care, Ilina was a driven, smart young girl who was maturing quickly. Her brother was the same. They were always nice to each other and there wasn't a single bit of bad blood between the two of them. Anyway, Ilina's life was very ordinary and plain. Her parets were upper-middle class and they were good with money. They lived in a nice house and a nice lawn, and everything was great.
Then, on Ilina's eleventh birthday, she discovered her powers.
It was nighttime, and Ilina was getting ready for bed. She yawned and stretched, looking at a little stand in her room. She didn't like dust. She wanted it to go away. And, to her amusement, it all lifted up. But not just that dust. All the dust in her room. It all rose up and formed into a little ball, which Ilina promptly threw out the window. She ran upstairs to her parents bedroom and showed them what she could do. Bad move. That night, her parents became very worried and very scared. They withdrew her from school and began to homeschool her. Her brother still went to school, so he could invite Ilina's friends over for her. Her parents never allowed Ilina's friends over after that, however, so she became pretty lonely. Her parents began drinking and doing every drug under the sun. Just to get away from reality. And they did. Ilina grew to take care of herself, and eventually her parents got her into another school. A different one. At that time, Ilina was fourteen and she knew better than to show off her powers in public. Rather than becoming an introvert, and was ecstatic to finally meet new people, thus starting the sunny demeanor she shows now. She had many friends in her school, and none of them knew about her powers or her parents. Eventually, because of their habits, her parents had to sell the house and get part-time jobs in addition to their full-time ones. They ended up buying a relatively tiny house and lived there. They've been there ever since and have gotten used to the house over the couple years they’ve lived there. It was Ilarion, in fact, who heard of the Power's Academy from a friend of his. A wonder, since it was very far away from the place where they lived. Ilina was constantly getting amazing grades in school, so he convinced their parents to send her there. Ilina was initallly scared, but quickly became happy for the opportunity. Once everything was said and done, Ilina was sixteen, and heading off to her new life, alone, on a plane full of strangers. In the very, very short time she's been there (a little less than a week) she's just been trying to get adjusted to things.
( S A M P L E P O S T ) Sigh. Exasperated and oh so stretched, for sure, just to throw in that extra kick. Just so they know that they should be hurrying up. So rude, really. Ilina didn't want to speak up, she might seem a bit crazy. But this was getting kind of ridiculous. Maybe she'd just make a run for it. Grab and go, you know? Like in all of those crime movies. One guy would turn to the other and whisper under his breath ‘Grab and go' and then they would do just that. Grab everything they could and just run for it. She could totally pull it off, right? She could just distract them by screaming that there was a fire, grab, and run. Oh, but that wouldn't work. Why? She was picking up her luggage from the airport, and the freaking thing that spits out the luggage was going so. Darn. Slow. It drove her crazy, really it did. This was the worst thing ever in the history of the world. Waiting. For anything, really. Illi had already absorbed the sights of this place. She wanted to go elsewhere, so live her life away from airports for the rest of her life. Then, as if a beacon of light had left a dark hole, as if a prophet emerged from a wall of doves, as if a sea monster erupted with a glorious roar from the ocean, her luggage appeared and was coming down!
She grinned and stepped forward a bit, having to almost push herself through two rather large people. That was certainly weird. But she ended up grabbing her stuff and turning on one heel, exiting in a timely manner. Thank everything good and holy. She was finally leaving this place. The airport wasn't that nice at all. Well, it was all up-to-date and such and all the chrome was nice and shiny and new, but the whole atmosphere was brooding. Like everyone was going to a funeral. Everyone in the entire airport. Like the president died or something. No, she definitely shouldn't joke about that. That would be awful!
Illi didn't have much luggage at all. She had one thing full of her tops and another with all of her bottoms, and then there was the one that held her laptop that conveniently held all of the movies, books and games she wanted to take with her. She had watched movies the entire trip. She was glad she brought her own headphones, though, she would never want to use someone else's. That was just gross. She had passed on the pillow, too, because she just didn't sleep. The flight was pretty awful since it all happened really early in the morning. She got on the plane at midnight and got off around five thirty in the morning. She had gotten all her sleep before the flight, and she spent all five and a half hours watching scary movies. She managed to get through both Paranormal Activities, The Blair Witch Project, and a little bit of The Exorcist. She probably should have watched The Exorcist first, but whatever. She'd watch it later. She had business to take care of. Outside, she hailed a taxi rather quickly and told the driver where to go as she loaded her luggage into the car. The taxi smelled weird. Ew. This was never a good sign. She quickly opened a window and got somewhat close to it. She did not want to smell like old pizza, no she did not. But she was on her way, on her way to her new life at Power's Academy. And she could swear she saw a hearse near the airport. What? Wait, were all those people really there for a funeral?
That's just bonkers.
Coincidences were strange. This was just crazy. She had to wonder if she was dreaming, but then again she wasn't. She knew that she had left, and that she probably was just a little bit sleep-deprived. Her brain wasn't exactly working right because her circadian rhythm was all out of whack and it would be for at least a few days not at this point and that's just awful. She'd probably get to the place and just... Sleep. Forever. Well, not forever, probably an hour or four. That would be wonderful! She shifted a bit and opened her smallest bag, the one she brought with her. It contained two things. A small amount of money and her iPod. She turned it on, headphones in, and she scrolled through the artists... And scrolled through the artists... And scrolled through the artists... Sigh. Exasperated and stretched, for sure, to give it that extra kick. The cab driver gave her a weird look. Illi set her iPod to shuffle.
