In the meantime, he can draw anything that's eight inches by eleven inches- the size of a standard piece of paper. He can't chose colors, and he can't chose what object he takes (if he summoned a pen, it could be any pen in range, regardless as to which is closest) but if he draws certain details, he can get specific objects. That's a little harder. He also can't get something from anywhere. He has to be reasonably close. He can get something from the other side of the school building he's in, but he can't get anything from the next building. Side effects include being labeled a kleptomaniac, and immediately after he uses his power, both of the insides of his palms turn red.

But when he can't, he'll put whatever's in his closet (there's a variety of hand-me-downs to choose from) He doesn't have a preference toward brand names, or expensive mall stores, or even a sense of definitive style. There isn't time or money enough in his life for that.

( L I K E S ) The best thing in life is definitely Lysander or, in that lame way he can't deny, his mother. They mean the world, and he'd do anything for them. But when he's looking to feel better, music mediates that mood, as do kids, so they have a place in his list. He's fascinated by demons and the supernatural, especially ghosts, so shadows and darkness fit his fancy. Plus, you're safe if they can't see you. Another thing he enjoys is being in control. Contrary to that, he also likes authority to show him how it's done, 'cause he knows he's still a kid and hasn't got it right yet. Blue makes you happy- that's why the sky's that color, so Kins rather likes that. Next, fruit! Citrus flavors are interesting, making lemons and oranges two of his favorite, but he likes most fruits. And the final like to this list is the all encompassing space. Stars, planets, galaxies, all of it. He loves almost everything about space. On a simple level, though, he loves just admiring the night sky from the grass.
( D I S L I K E S ) His father gets the top of this list. He loves the man sometimes because, well, he's a lot like his dad. The older he gets, the more he sees that. But most of the time, he hates him. He also hates being tired. If you ask, he'll say he's spent his whole life being tired, and he's sick of it. And milk? Disgusting. Cereal isn't great, either, but he eats it sometimes without the milk. He dislikes being still. Silence? Yeah, right. He says it's defining, and you're insane if you don't go crazy. Violence, disrespect or threats? He'll put a stop to that by putting you to the ground. Kind of counterintuitive for him to resort to violence if he disapproves, but that's just Kins. Traveling also isn't his favorite, and he shows no desire to drive or ride in cars. He'll walk. The word no ticks him off, too, so watch out. And, finally, peas. He hates the taste.
( S T R E N G T H S ) People call him pixie because he's small and thin. He acts so tough that you'd expect an intimidating figure, and when all you see is Kinkade, it often earns a few giggles. But the pixie's size and agility is a definite strength. He's sure-footed and quick, which is the explanation for why he pulls off victories in some of the fights he gets into. Not many. He's also very loyal and moral. He doesn't need anyone telling him what's right or wrong, he knows. His paternal side and the way he handles young children is also a good thing. Intelligent and insightful often get applied to him, too.
( W E A K N E S S E S ) He tries too hard to seem tough. Most of the time, it keeps him from admitting fears and weaknesses aloud. It's an effort to keep himself locked up so tight. He has issues trusting others- he doesn't do it well. He's disobedient more often than not- he's not scared of getting in trouble. Kins often seems to lack limits and boundaries. His powers makes it possible to steal from others, and instead of feeling remorse and avoiding it, he enjoys using his power. Kins' tendency to be cold when angry has a way of ruining the relationships he develops.
( H O B B I E S / H A B I T S )
-- Kins has lots of habits. Tapping his foot against the leg of a desk, tapping his fingers along the desk, or any repetitive action he can think of to make noise in a situation is probably his most notable habit.
-- Kins is very affectionate. He wants his own space, and he doesn't allow strangers to touch him without feeling anger or at least discomfort, but he does have a habit of hugging, holding hands, ruffling hair, and casual, physical things of that nature.
-- His hobbies include stargazing, singing (believe it or not, he is involved in choir), and photography.
( F E A R S )
~ Drowning terrifies him- he has nightmares about that.
~ Becoming his father. That'd be horrible.
~ Mice and rats both. Ew. Icky rodents are going to bite him and he'll subsequently die. Yes, he's sure of that one- just ask him. After all the drug studies and scientific experiments, mice and rats are bound to be a little screwy, right?
( S E C R E T S )
-- He'll never, ever admit it until he gets it, and he tries to act like it isn't so, but really, all the kid wants in life is someone to validate him. Someone to turn and say, "hey, you're okay." and finalize all the bad things, so he can move on. He wants someone to depend upon, ultimately, to notice him, care for him and guide him.
-- When someone says, "I can't spend the night alone," it may seem like nothing more than a daring pick-up line, but for Kinkade, a night spent by himself is a terrifying ordeal. There's something secure about having someone there with him, male or female, and not in a relationship-type way. To know someone is there to reach out to, to hold onto if anything bad were to happen, scares his nightmares away. But he'll try to act tough, he won't admit he wants someone there, and he won't admit that's the reason he won't sleep, why he wanders the hallways and ends up passed out in classrooms or even outside when he can't stand being tired anymore.
( O V E R A L L )
Kinkade is just trying to figure it all out. He's not a bad kid, but he causes a lot of trouble for anyone trying to keep him in a straight line. He tends to rally the kids, to get them to follow him with his antics, but at the end of the day, he- proudly- says he doesn't have many friends (one or two is comfortable). Shallow relationships and a fear of trusting others ensure that he always downplays the 'people person' side of himself. It's hard to deny when he so willing to give himself, to emotionally invest himself in others, but he seems to pull it off. When he's around people for too long he tends to get tired and irritated, especially groups. He needs time to himself to think and reflect- like a battery that needs to recharge. He can only give so much.
Kinkade will openly defy and question your rules just to see why they're there, and he hates rules he deems unnecessary. Also, rules that you nag about but don't constantly enforce, he'll make a habit of doing just to spite you. Surprisingly, though, he's very moral and he has a system of his own rules to adhere to (which keeps him from doing anything too harsh). It also means that, while Kins is trouble, always challenging people openly, he's also one of the first that keys into your bad mood and says something to cheer you up. Almost like he has a finger to the pulse of the relationship, he does know when to respect you and back off.
On the negative side, he is very vengeful. He wants justice, so if he thinks you've done something wrong, he'll almost make a game of getting revenge. And jealousy! He does not share with just anyone, and he doesn't pretend to. So if you have a relationship with someone he likes, he's probably endlessly jealous of you. Suspicion is also his flaw. He's so certain something will go wrong, that he sometimes sees danger in innocent things. Ultimately, like most people, Kins just doesn't wanna get hurt anymore. That might help explain why he lets his ego run away with him. If he thinks he's infallible, maybe your insults won't hurt, right? Or maybe you just won't insult him. Wouldn't that be nice?

// Hush, hush, it's a secret. //
The six year old winced while grasping tighter to the molding upon the door frame for support. The sound of shattering glass filled the room and the older inhabitants fell silent as they glared with so much hatred, it was almost tangible. The moment drug on for a few more seconds like a stand-off until the cursing and screaming resumed. His mother was hysterical as she began saying every harsh thing she'd thought during the duration of their seven year relationship. Not surprisingly, there was a lot to say. His father retaliated with harsh and biting insults of his own. They tore each other down with no sense of remorse. But this? This was okay. Of all things for the little boy to conclude, he'd decided this was a good thing. Tears, hatred, fear... Even the broken glass. He knew that when he woke up, his parents wouldn't speak a word of it and that glass would be cleaned up like a bad dream. Unfortunately, words lead to violence. Ten minutes into the fight, as he expected but silently hoped against, the little boy found himself watching in horror as his father hit his mother. How they were ever going to survive this night he really didn't know. All he could do was watch and wish time would move a little bit faster so this could all be over. Mommy'd have bruises and maybe even a few cuts but as long as she was alive, he could rest easy.
// Key Events for Pixie - //
-- At six, he ran away from home, spent a night in a stranger's house, and ended up with a referral to a psychologist to whom he's spoken to for the decade since. Not the same psychologist, but he's had therapy sessions ever since. They seemed to help, and they kept him from running away again. Several months later, before he turned seven, his uncle took his older cousin and him on a semi truck from North Carolina to California. Best two week vacation ever.
-- At seven, his psychologist at the time sent an application to Power's Academy on his behalf- the man had a young son who had an ability, and he knew his patient had been keeping the power a secret from most for a few months now. A little guidance would do the boy some good and help him shed the false title of kleptomaniac (which he'd earned from his power). Besides, he should have a chance to get away from the problem of his parents. After his parents learned of his acceptance to Powers, he was at baseball practice, bound and determined to do something fun. The coach was late, so Kins convinced several peers climbed up the back of the backstop with him. They then sat atop it, admiring the view. When they were noticed, a well-meaning civilian called the police and the firefighters were called to get the boys down safely. They were warned never to do it again. A few days later, at the next practice, Kins was climbing again. This time he was doing so with Christian, while the other children watched and giggled. Obviously the boys'd be in trouble when their coach saw. An older boy practicing on the adjacent field took it upon himself to shake the fence and tell the boys to get down. Kins and Christian fell off the fence and got concussions that kept them from playing for an entire week (and prolonged his departure). Kins has a scar on the back of his head from it, which can be felt by ruffling his hair.
-- At ten, Lysander is born.
-- At eleven, he was taken on a tour of a prison by his psychologist because he'd said he wanted his father dead after a visit to his parents home. His psychologist told him to expect prison to be his future if he couldn't forgive him. Kins decided maybe severely wounded would do. Several weeks later, custody of Lysander is granted to Kinkade's uncle, much to his relief.
( S A M P L E P O S T ) {This is a reply. He's walking into a room where the teacher is drawing Hitler on the board... Very poorly. Gifted boarding school type RPG.}
When one dreamed of jello, they were weightless. Forget space, jello was more plausible. One could make a lot of jello a lot cheaper than they could get to space, that was. So Nikolai Nixon floated in the green substance, content in the moment to enjoy the closest to space he'd likely ever come. Unfortunately, the shadows had other plans for him, much to his dismay.
"Nikki!"came the childish voice of one of his shadows,"Get up!" Niko complied groggily, looking to his clock. Hm. If the flashing numbers were any indication, his alarm clock didn't sound this morning, though it still knew what he assumed to be the proper time, and now he was going to be late. Instead of worrying, he went about his morning routine like normal, complete with a shower, baggy black cargo pants, a yellow t-shirt, a canvas messenger bag and a green apple, which he ate as he walked down the hallway to this hour's history class.
The remaining bits of the apple were deposited into the nearest trash can before he entered the room. It seemed a wise move, since he was coming late in the first place. Why add insult to injury by implying that eating his apple was more important than Cal? Honestly, Nikolai sort of hoped Cal wouldn't notice him as he moved quietly toward his seat beside Shi, listening to the conversation that had started sometime before he'd entered. The voice he caught was Shiloh, saying something about Hitler, then Cal had went to the whiteboard (which was perfect timing, if you asked Nikolai) before turning back to face the class. Oh, Nikolai knew plenty about World War II, but now wasn't a great time to say so. At least today wouldn't be a boring day, if the drawing on the board was any indication of things to come. Come on, how many teachers drew crappy stick figures to illustrate their point? Obviously Cal.
