Anyone but you...[Nathan]

[Kaiser Joseph Kittes.]

Kaiser had finally gotten his room number from the office after what seemed like hours of waiting."Room number two hundred, roommates Nathan Stone and Lucas Meadows." He said as he read the card the woman in the office gave to him. The boy swung his two suitcases over each one of his shoulder and started to make his way to the room. "I wonder what my roommates are like, hopefully nothing like that rude boy I met. Kaiser still couldn't get that kid out of his mind. He was hiding something and Kaiser knew it. The boy looked down at the card again as he counted the room numbers. "I should be almost there." He said as he was now passing the one hundreds. Kaiser kept walking down the corridor until he reached his destination. The boy pulled the key out his pocket that the office had given him and put it inside the lock. "Alright, here goes nothing." He said as he turned the key and opened the door. "Hello?"

Nathan was curled up on his bed when the door opened, and paid no attention to it. He hadn't met either of his roommates yet, but he really didn't care. Not yet, at least. He had no interest in meeting them, not unless they were worth befriending, and judging by the people he'd already met at this school, they certainly wouldn't be.

He was reading now; his sketchbook was long gone, left on the lawn under the tree, and he hadn't had time to sneak out and get another one yet. For now he was simply reading an art book, one about landscapes. He was good at landscapes, but there was always room for improvement with everything: landscapes, humans, his powers... his friend-making skills.

Finally, he looked up and acknowledge the new arrival. The book fell from his hands. "No way... no. Get out." He was on his feet in a second, and pointed firmly toward the door. "Go get your room changed. No way in hell."

"You? You're my roommate?" Kaiser asked as he laid eyes on the boy he had fought with in the park. "And no, I'm not getting out. This is my room. If you don't want to live in here then you can go get your room changed." Kaiser said with a glare. The boy walked over to the empty bed and sat his suitcases down."I don't care what say. This is the room they gave me...so this is the room I'm going to live in. You'll just have to deal with it. Oh yeah, I have something for you-" Kaiser said as he opened one of his suitcases and pulled out Nathan's sketchbook. "-I didn't want anyone to get a hold of your nudie drawing." The boy said with a smirk as he tossed the book over to Nathan, landing on the floor with a soft thud.

Nathan glared at him, then grabbed the sketchbook and stuffed it under the bed. "Bet you wouldn't have given that back if you hadn't run into me," Nathan snapped. "You just took it because it's the closest you can get to seeing someone else naked." Still, his face had again turned red at the thought of the notebook's contents. Somebody had seen, and now he lived with that somebody. No doubt this kid would mention it to their other roommate, whoever the hell that was.

He sat back down on the bed and picked up the art book he'd been reading. Whatever. He could deal with this. He would just have to stay out of his dorm room as much as possible, and ignore the kid whenever they were both there. That would be doable, as long as this kid didn't insist on trying to "out him" or anything. Drawing nudes didn't make him gay. Not necessarily, anyway.

"You don't even know me, and actually I haven't even opened up the damn thing." Kaiser said as he started to unpack his suitcase."It's just my luck to room with the weird kid. I bet you don't have any friends at all, not even like from your hometown or something." He said not looking at the kid. He usually wasn't this...bitchy, but this kid had got on his bad side. "You just stay on your side and I'll stay on mine. Which one are you anyway? Lucas or Nathan?"

Nathan's grip tightened on the book. So maybe this kid was right. So what? He didn't need friends, not when all the people in the world were like this. First the kids at home, then this little blonde kid, all calling him crazy. Well, if that was how people were, then he didn't want anything to do with them. He ignored the hole in his chest and shook his head.

"Why would I care? I don't want to be friends with someone like you. You're probably not even gay, or you wouldn't have cared what I was drawing. You're just a homophobe." Ignoring the question about his name, he turned back to his book.

"Me a homophobe? Ha, I could never. I think you just want me to kiss you or something, I bet that's it. You're just jealous of me that I could get any guy around and you're stuck hiding in the closest." Kaiser said as he started to put his clothes in one of the empty drawers of the dresser. "So what is it Nathan you want a kiss? Huh? Well too bad cause you could never get one from me...I like cute guys." Now Kaiser was just lying. Nathan was actually extremely cute, but Kaiser would never admit it."You're just some little boy who is too scared to ever do anything, right?"

"I wouldn't want anything from you, idiot. Get this through your head: I don't like guys. Just because you made one assumption, your entire analysis of me is off. Now shut up. I'm trying to read." He turned his eyes back to the thick book in his hands. He really didn't care either way about Kaiser. The boy was attractive, but Nathan wanted more than that. For one thing, he wanted somebody who could take care of him, someone who would always be there. For another, he wanted someone who didn't hate him, and that meant Kaiser was automatically out.

"Liar." The boy said as he finally unpacked all his clothes. "You won't be able to get anyone though anyway...guy or girl. People don't like crazies. And you most certainly are one." The boy plopped down on his bed looking at Nathan with a satisfied grin on his face. "You'll probably be alone all your life and buy a lot of cats or something." Kaiser said with a chuckle. "It kind of has a ring to it doesn't it? The crazy cat boy Nathan."

Nathan lowered the book enough for the other book to see his scowl. "You know, kid," he said quietly, "you'd have to be either stupid, or crazy yourself, to call me crazy. I've told you repeatedly not to call me crazy. You didn't listen. If you really do think I'm crazy, then why do you assume I wouldn't be crazy enough to hurt you?" He set the book down on the bed and slowly stood up. His fists were clenched, but his tone remained calm, and he wasn't about to show how much effort that took. "If I didn't know better, I'd say you were feeling a little suicidal."

Kaiser watched as the boy got off the bed, then quickly looked over at the window. 'Oh crap.' He thought as he saw the sun was slowly going down. 'I don't think he knows how my powers work, at least I hope he doesn't.' Kaiser quickly hopped up from his bed. "I don't think you're going to do anything cause you know I'm stronger than you. Remember last time you tried to hit me?" The boy said as he glared at Nathan. "Now, I think you should just sit back down on your bed, read your little book, and leave me the hell alone from now on. You stay on your side, I'll stay on mine, and you never say a damn word to me. Ok?" The boy then stared right into Nathan's eyes. The best way to deal with a bully was to stand up to him. Kaiser wasn't going to deal with this his whole stay here, no way.

Nathan hesitated. He didn't want to back down, but that kid could definitely take him out. It wasn't worth an all-out confrontation; better to wait and catch him off-guard. "You're not stronger than me. Maybe you've been trained to fight, but you're not stronger." Even if the other boy was right, Nathan wasn't about to give him the satisfaction of knowing he had an advantage. It would be safer if he acted like they were on equal footing, at least physically. Besides, the kid looked just as weak as Nathan, if not even more so. "Besides, we can't split the room like that. We have another roommate, you know. I doubt he'll want to deal with any crap like that."

Kaiser was completely ignoring the boy now, he fell for his bluff and that was all that mattered. He sat back on his bed and pulled 'To kill a mockingbird' out his suitcase. 'This is going to be a long semester.' He had already made an enemy and though he wouldn't show it he was very much upset about it. He hated when people didn't like him...why shouldn't they? He was nice, friendly, and happy. All things people should like in a friend...right? Kaiser let out a sigh as he turned to the boy. "Whatever, just stay away from me. I don't care for people like you." He said as he turned the page in his book. "Maybe the other roommate will be a little less...." He said letting the end trail off as he put his nose in the book. 'I don't need to be starting anymore fights...especially at night.'
