( N I C K N A M E ) Ever since she was young, Eleanor has simply been known to her peers as Harper. In a sense it signaled her inability to connect with people her own age even then. She has always hated her given name, and if she ever does decide to introduce herself with it, she usually uses the abbreviation "Nora".
( A G E ) twenty seven years old.
( B I R T H D A Y ) 5th of November.
( G R A D E ) Teacher.
( S E X U A L O R I E N T A T I O N ) Bisexual. To Nora personality has always trumped gender easily.
( J O B ) Nora main responsibility at Power´s Academy is to act as a guidance counsellor for the students. She also teaches the high school Social science class.
( P O W E R ) Boggart. Much like the mythic creature from British folklore, Nora´s ability allows her to sense and manipulate the fear of those around her. Furthermore she is able to make others either envision their fears or change her shape into it.
Her power comes with a number of disadvantages, however. When she is around larger groups of people, she will have difficulties separating the different emotions from each other. In such circumstances the most intense feeling of fear or worry will usually be the easiest for her to manipulate, though over time she has become increasingly good at focusing her power at one specific individual or on increasing the sense of fear in the an entire group. She also needs to be in close proximity to the person she uses her ability on in order for her power to work.
When using her ability, Nora has to start out working with the emotional state her victim is currently in. This means that she will have a much harder time "scaring" someone who feels happy and safe than someone who is already worried or nervous. In later years she has been able to make most people feel a sudden and irrational sense of fear or worry if she focuses on it, however. Even though she can to a certain extent manipulate and increase feelings of fear in this way, she can´t make someone who is in control over their emotions suddenly panic. Her shape shifting abilities are also dependent on fear to work. As a side-effect of her power Nora is often able to intuitively know if someone isn´t being entirely truthful with her, seeing as worry and nervousness will generally be involved when someone is lying.
One of her main problems is that if she loses control over her own negative emotions she could be trapped by her own power, envisioning the very things she fears the most herself. This happened to her once when she was younger before she arrived at Power's Academy.

( H A I R ) Nora´s hair is a dark color which stretches the boarder between brown and black. She often colors it a few shades darker than its natural color. It is fairly smooth and straight, and she´s known for changing the length and style frequently. Lately she´s kept it cut in a very short, but still feminine hair style.
( E Y E CO L O R ) Nora's eyes are dark brown, and will often come off as being black in poor lighting. Other people often find them to be cold, something which intensifies her already intimidating appearance.
( H E I G H T ) 5´6 feet. Nora learned early on in her life that taking up place isn't all about inches and feet. Even though she has never been particularly tall, she has always had a talent for seeming tall. She has always been good at getting her body language to come off as confident and secure, thereby getting more authority than her slightly short build should indicate.
( W E I G H T ) 130 lbs. From birth Nora was always a little on the skinny side, something which has followed her all the way to adulthood. As a teenager she would sometimes secretly wish that her body was curvier, more feminine, but these days she is fairly content with her looks.
( T A T T O O S ) Nora two tattoos. The first, which a lot of her acquaintances know about is a small wasp, positioned on the back of her right shoulder. She got it just after she finished at Power´s. The second is in the shape of two eyes, positioned on her lower back. Only people who knows her intimately would know about it.
( P I E R C I N G S ) When she was younger Nora had quite a few piercings. In addition to her ears she had her nose, belly and eyebrow pierced in a silent teenage rebellion. All of them were carried out at home with the aid of a needle and common lighter to sterilize it. These days she has only kept the piercings in her ears.
( C L O T H I N G S T Y L E ) It would perhaps seem as if Nora never really got the hang of colors. While she has been just as willing to experiment with different clothing styles as other girls, she generally sticks with shades of black, grey and white. It would always infuriate her parents that she insisted on dressing in such gloomy colors, something which always counted as a plus in her mind. These days she shuns whites, however, seeing as she was forced to wear just that color for two of her teenage years. She dresses more formally for her job than what she usually does.

Intelligence: Her mind is Nora's first and foremost important weapon. She is downright bright, and annoyingly so. From the first day she put her foot into a school building she has surprised and irritated every single one of her teachers. Do not be fooled into thinking that she’s merely a bookworm, however. Her smarts also extend into the material world as well, and Nora has always been observant and quick-witted. You’ll have to work hard to fool her.
Persistence: When Nora has taken it upon herself to do something there is few people who can change her mind. Like a force of nature she will carry on whatever goal she’s trying to reach until she has conquered the challenge she has set for herself.
Rebellious: Even though this might not always count as a strength, it often is in Nora’s case. From she was a little girl she’s been unafraid to question authority and go her own ways. Even though she is loyal to those she cares about she will never blindly follow anyone and if she thinks something doesn’t make sense she will always tell you so.
Trustworthy: Although a lot can be said about Nora, and not all of it will be positive, she will take a secrete to her grave. This doesn't just involve professional ethics either; Nora knows how much having private issues shared with someone you haven't chosen yourself can hurt, and as such she will rarely discuss a person behind his or her back. If you tell her something in confidence she will keep it to herself.
( W E A K N E S S E S ) Showing emotion: Somehow, showing emotions ended up being the same as showing weaknesses in Nora’s inner dictionary. This is a somewhat contradictory side of her personality, seeing as she makes a living off getting other people to open up.
Social skills: Whether it is a conscious choice or not, Nora has an unrivaled ability to say just the things that rubs people the wrong way. Sometimes she uses this in a calculative way though, in order to get a sense of peoples real and unveiled reactions.
Impulsiveness: As an aspect of her individuality Nora can sometimes do things without thinking or consulting the people her action concerns. This makes her an impulsive person to be around.
Distant: To this day Nora prefers to be on the outside of any group gathering rather than the inside. She will often feel uncomfortable in large groups of people.
( H O B B I E S / H A B I T S )
Jogging: At least once every day. Normally she does it at least twice.
Smoking: Although she's perfectly aware that it's a filthy habit, she hasn't been able to stop as of yet. She makes sure to do it out of the students view.
Coffee: She drinks far too much of it, even though the coffee machine in the staff room make it taste like old gym socks in a matter of minutes.
( F E A R S )
Nora fears loosing the grip of her ability more than anything else, something which is somewhat interesting, seeing as her power is manipulating exactly that feeling.
She also has an (not entirely) irrational fear of doctors and hospitals. In addition to this she dislikes being pinned down or being unable to move freely.
( S E C R E T S )
Sometimes she still wakes up crying due to the memories from her time at a mental ward in her youth when her ability was still not under control. At times this makes it close to impossible for her to get a full night of sleep.
She still keeps tabs on her little sister Amelia from time to time, even though they haven't spoken in years. Aside from that she has no contact with her other family members.

Anyone who spent five minutes talking to Nora Harper, would have a hard time picturing her in the role of a sweet and supportive guidance counsellor at a school for youth who are, in their one special way, often quite troubled. Personality wise this would have been an entirely correct assessment of Nora as well. She never has and probably never will be the sort of woman to take in emotional teens and hand them tissue paper while they bawl their eyes out over lost loves or unfair parents. That is not to say that she isn't a good counsellor, however.
While her appearance has always made Nora come off as cold, distant and intimidating, first meetings with her tends to solidify this impression. Even so, more than any other personality trait, Nora can be said to be highly intelligent. She has a mind like a razor and an uncanny tendency of picking out things said in a normal conversation and twisting it out of context, something she use frequently during sessions with the students at Power's. She has always been of the firm opinion that being unsettled can be a great way of finding out exactly what goes on inside someone else. In her mind, wallowing in misery serves no constructive purpose, and as such she is more likely to challenge those who seek her council than to pat them on the back and tell them everything is going to be all right.
That being said, Nora genuinely care about the students at Power's. It is all too easy for her to identify with the trouble a lot of them face due to their abilities, and she's adamant to make sure that none of them has to meet these problems on their own and unprepared. Although she might seem harsh to some, this will very often be with the clear purpose in mind to make those in her care able to meet the fears and issues in their own life.
Having grown up under rather hard conditions, Nora formed a cynical view on humanity as a whole from an early age. Her powers sudden and formerly uncontrollable physical aspects would often make it more difficult than for a lot of the others to blend into a crowd inconspicuously, and she has at times suffered the consequences of this when it comes to her social life. Where she urges others to open up and reveal their problems to her, she has problems allowing anyone else to see her own weaknesses.
Despite the fact that Nora might seem indifferent to the feelings of others at times, this is more a smokescreen than the real truth. With those she cares about, she does have a softer side, although she often finds it difficult to show this in practice. She will instinctively root for anyone representing the underdog and often find ways of assisting those who needs it. She’s always testing other people’s attitude and if you want to spent time around her you have to learn to push back when she does. Her humor is down right dark, and usually at the expense of someone else.
Another fact about Nora is that she loves a challenge but hates to loose. She is competitive by nature and will keep on fighting until the battle is won. This makes her an counsellor, seeing as she would never give up on a student, but a poor partner for a relaxed evening of board games.
If you dig down to the very core of Nora Harper there is a somewhat wounded quality to her that is hidden under all the other layers. In the end her constant need to test those around her is really a way of testing herself. She can’t tolerate anyone to see any weakness in her, and as a result she hardly ever lets anyone become close enough so that their abandonment can really hurt.

( P E T S ) Nora owns a dark grey cat who goes by the name of Watson. It used to be owned by her sister, but the last time the two of them saw each other Amy somehow convinced Nora to look after it. Superficially it would seem as if Nora despises it, but that still doesn't prevent her from spoiling it rotten.
( O V E R A L L ) Eleanor Harper was born in London on the 5th of February, to catholic parents. Her father was a Major in the British Army, and as such the family moved around a lot during her childhood. Luckily he was never posted abroad, so Nora didn’t have to leave her home country. Even so, it was sometimes hard for the young girl to let herself become attached to places and people when she never knew how long they would stay.
Though her mother would often try to arrange play dates with children her own age, Nora never seemed to get the hang of how act to make people like her. She had trouble adjusting herself to others, and most of her classmates found her to be strange. This wasn't helped much by the fact that she was always the new girl, and over time it would seem as if she merely quit trying to win the approval of her peers. The only child she got along with, was her little sister Amelia.
When she turned ten Nora was sent to a catholic boarding school for girls. This was at the insistence of her mother, who felt that her daughter could benefit from having the chance to stay at the same place for longer periods of time, rather than following along in her parents’ constant trail of relocation. Although Nora was a bright student she hated the school she was sent to with passion, and often ended up in trouble with both her peers and teachers. She refused to abide by the strict dress code of the place and cut her own hair short with a pair of kitchen scissors on several occasions. Her strange appearance alienated her from her classmates and in combination with her defensive personality this left her with very few friends. She also struggled with accepting the hard regime of the religious professors at her school, who had no patience for a girl who questioned their teachings constantly. She was regularly reprimanded for talking too loudly and being impolite. The punishments were generally far from pleasant.
As a twelve year old, things changed from bad to worse, however. In the beginning the change was so small that hardly anyone took notice of it. Nora began to frighten her classmates, and in some cases even her teachers. Although she had no idea how she did it, Nora considered her new-found ability to be a blessing. It gave her some shelter from the daily ridicule of her peers, and made the otherwise insistent Professors trying to save her soul with additional chores and constant prayers leave her alone. As time passed, however, her control began to slip. The girls in her dorm refused to sleep in the same room with her, claiming that she was evil and would deliberately try to scare them. In the beginning the school administration refused to allow her a separate room. Her schedule was reorganized so that she had time for weekly sessions with a guidance counsellor who did nothing to help. The school even brought in her parents to attempted to get their daughter sorted out, but with limited success to no success.
By the next year she had started hearing voices whenever she was in the presence of other people. On one occasion when she was on kitchen duty with a girl from her class the contents of the cabinets changed into a squirming, moving mass of insects. If it hadn't been for the fact that they both saw it, Nora would have thought that she was going crazy. But when the other girl ran out of the room screaming, the insects vanished, leaving no trace behind. Adamant to get to the bottom of what had happened, Nora went to the principal's office and told the stern man what had occurred. She knew from the moment she closed her mouth after finishing talking that it had been a mistake. A few weeks later her parents picked her up from the school and took her to a private institution specializing in youth with mental illnesses.
Where the catholic school had been bad for Nora, the institution was a nightmare. Shut inside a limited space surrounded by teenagers with depressions and anxity problems, her powers blossomed. Unfortunately it was no one there to teach her control, and so she was forced to envision and relive the same fears as her victims did without understanding what wa happening. Her only escape was solitary confinement, and she would often act poorly with the sole purpose of being taken away from the rest of the group.
The turning point occurred the same year as she had turned fifteen. During a therapy session Nora shape shifted for the first time, taking on the form of the dead father of her doctor. Coincidentally the man had a cousin who was also a Power, and he quickly deducted what Nora was. Even though she felt relief at finally understanding what was happening to her, Nora's parents were far from thrilled at the revelation. They agreed to allow her to attend Power's Academy, but made it abundantly clear that they wanted little more to do with her.
Her first few years at the school was difficult, but little by little Nora began to understand how her abilities worked. Although it took years for her to come to term with what she was, she slowly began to see her gift as less of a curse. She stayed as a student at Power's until she was nineteen, then she went on to study physiology and social science at a university. She returned to the Academy two years ago, and has held position as guidance counsellor and social science teacher since.
