ace reviews !EVERYTHING!
and part time rant blog
•entry number one... again... the rise of a new era!
dramatic, huh?
anyway right so you know that whole "hey imma have a blog and it'll totally be the best thing ever" thing was going kinda swell and all? yeah so basically the blog kinda wiped itself. sadface. so now i have zero things in the blog's history. i thought that warranted a 2.0 stamp on this baby. why not? makes it seem more official! anyway i don't actually have anything to review this week/month/whatever time interval suits me this time because of all this blog crap but i swear i'll have another eventually. as always, you guys are pro. i don't have a youtube channel, i (still) don't have a twitter and i don't really have anything else. feel free to comment on how you want to nail me to a wall because i have nothing to review or that you ♥ me. it makes my day that much better knowing that people are out there, reading this. more incentive to actually start reviewing stuff haha. (still using that camera from a few months ago and it still works like a champion! got rid of that oldschool film camera though 'cuz i learned how to photoshop that kinda stuff in. now i just need to get a 35mm video camera... haha, boy am i going to need some luck!)

•entry number two: the sequel
i'm so pumped.
or, at least, i was. surfing on ebay the the like, i just happened to stumble upon a little beauty of a 35 mm camera. yeah, the kind of camera i wanted the most? the thing that can shoot full-length films in 35 mm film? the stuff i wanted to experiment with forever? that kinda camera? yeah. i placed my bid and refreshed like the fist of the north star. last second. literally last freaking second some d-bag comes in and is all "hey sup i'm just going to steal this thing from you mkay? mkay." seriously? freaking seriously? man, this world. and he only bid a dollar above my bid. i tried to slap on another bid but i was too late. so, he got the camera, and i got a lifetime of shame. maybe i'm overreacting. maybe i'm not. who knows? tune in next time!
now, onto a review. as you may have known, i've been reviewing music from time to time just because. this music didn't necessarily have to come out yesterday, but it's at least somewhat recent. and today, you lovely people get another music review! today, i'll be reviewing Illuminate by Lydia. sadly, this band has broken up, so there's no hope for another album (this is the second out of three lps). let me start off by saying this: this album is nowhere as good as it is if you can't listen to an album the entire way through. because, honestly, this album flows like no other. and all of the songs seem to play up and build off of each other. it all comes together really amazingly. the vocals are so sincere i could die, and everything else seems to know its place, so to speak. nothing overpowers anything. it's nice when that happens. lots of teasing build ups that lead to satisfying crescendos. good songwriting... just all around a great album. favorite track is "I Woke Up Near The Sea". it was crazy hard to pick a favorite. like crazy hard. the whole album is just great.
but, all great albums have a downside. this album's downside is the amount of teasing there is in proportion to the crescendos. there's a whole lot of teasing for a relatively small big moment (heh) when you look at it. the vocals could possibly grate for some, but not me. the vocals are really good, it's just the dude's voice is high and some people don't like dudes with high voices.
that's it. that's the review. a little generic on the indie rock side, but overall it has enough creativity and passion that it gets a well-deserved 8.5/10. it's honestly the best album to listen to ever on a bad day when you're just angry at everything. this will calm you down and mellow you out, and if you're still angry after listening to this album you're either incredibly dense or devoid of a soul.
anyway, it's been nice. until next time!
